Joshua Jax Hair Salon, Mansfield

With over 31 years experience, I started my training at West Notts College (City and Guilds qualification in hairdressing). Once qualified, I set up a salon in Sutton-in-Ashfield, until I had my three children.
In 2002 we opened Joshua Jax in Mansfield. After 10 successful years we  moved to a bigger salon, where my daughter Sian became my business partner. My favourite part of hairdressing is meeting old and new clients.

Qualifying 10 years ago, I began my training at West Notts College as well as having an apprenticeship at Reflections by Michelle. I worked there for two years and qualified in Level 2 NVQ Hairdressing.
I then started working at Joshua Jax in Mansfield, where I became the Manageress after just two years.

After 7 years with Joshua Jax, Tracy and I became business partners and we moved the salon to new and bigger premises in Sutton-in-Ashfield. We have been here since September 2012. I enjoy everything about hairdressing, especially working with colour.

Qualifying 3 and a half years ago, I trained at North Notts College in Worksop as well as having an apprenticeship at a Salon called Juice, where I worked for a year and a half and received my NVQ Level 2.
I am also qualified in mens barbering. I moved on to work at Joshua Jax for maternity cover, but 2 years later and I’m still here! Working with family makes my job even better. My favourite interest in hairdressing is definitely take-ups especially Bridal hair! Outside of work I teach dancing at a local fitness studio as well as dancing regularly myself.

Training at West Nottinghamshire College in Mansfield, I was one of
the first students to finish 3 months early and gain my Level 2 in hairdressing. With over 2 years experience working in the hairdressing industry, I have now moved on to work at Joshua Jax to further my career. I am now currently studying my Level 3 within the salon.
I thrive in all aspects of hairdressing and have a keen interest in
hair extensions.
